In the statement released on Sunday on the occasion of Iran’s Defense Industry Day, the ministry commended achievements reached by the country’s Armed Forces in the defense sector after the 1979 Islamic Revolution despite threats and sanctions.
“The dramatic and stunning progress of (Iranian) experts in the defense industry under the flag of the Ministry of Defense and despite threats and sanctions is, in fact, a glorious symbol of self-sufficiency, self-confidence and manifestation of the Resistance Economy,” the statement went on to say.
An exhibition of the Defense Ministry’s achievements was held in Tehran on Sunday with President Hassan Rouhani in attendance, during which Bavar-373 long-range air defense missile system, designed and manufactured by Iranian experts, was put on display.

Iran allowed commercial lenders this month to buy foreign currencies using rial rates set by the market rather than those dictated by the central bank.
Akbar Komijani, a deputy goveor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), said the regulator will be “responsible for this market and will guide it,” according to a report by Bloomberg on Sunday.
It is widely believed that the move will lead to more cash entering the banking system rather than circulating through exchange houses.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani last month underscored the need for Iran to move toward unification.
Later, CBI Chief Valiollah Seif, who had announced plans to adopt a single rate within months following the implementation of a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and six world powers, said the policy would be in place before the end of the Iranian year in March 2017.

The president went to the Defense Ministry's Aerospace Industries Organization this moing, on Iran’s Defense Industry Day, and visited the latest military products developed by local experts in the aeronautical sphere.
Accompanied by Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan, President Rouhani saw different units of Bavar-373, a long-range air defense missile system developed jointly by the Defense Ministry, the Air Defense Force, as well as academic and research centers.
The president was also briefed on different stages of manufacturing Iran’s ‘national turbojet engine’, and visited other units displaying achievements in the production of fighter and cargo jets, helicopters and drones.

Heading a large politico-economic delegation, Foreign Minister Zarif departed for the Cuban capital early on Sunday, beginning another round of his inteational tours.
His tour will later take him to Nicaragua, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia and Venezuela.
The Iranian top diplomat is expected to sign contracts in the fields of oil, energy and maritime transport.
The Iranian minister will wrap up his visit to Latin America on August 27.
His previous Latin America tour in May, took Zarif to Brazil, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Venezuela and Cuba.

At the same time Yildirim added on Saturday that there were no need in Moscow's use of the base, because Russia possessed facilities located in Syria that was not far from Incirlik.

In a meeting with a delegation from Iraq’s Ministry of Trade in Tehran, Afkhami Rad said in order for a boost to the volume of bilateral trade exchange, Iran and Iraq need to carry out a free trade agreement signed by the two countries’ officials at an exclusive exhibition organized by Iran in Baghdad back in 2014.
To implement that agreement, Tehran and Baghdad can begin with preferential trade arrangements and then reciprocally eliminate tariffs on certain goods, he added.
For his part, Iraq’s Deputy Trade Minister Walid Habib al-Helou, who is heading the delegation, hailed Tehran’s support for Baghdad in the fight against terrorism which has contributed to Iraq’s victories over the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group, saying that it has further motivated Iraqis to boost trade exchanges with Iran.

Nourzad added that in a meeting with the South Korean delegation in Tehran, he has stressed that CDTIC welcomes foreign investments and is willing to see foreign investors actively work in the Iranian market and benefit from the investment opportunities in the country.
He further pointed to the willingness of South Koreans to participate in a railway project linking the southeaste Iranian cities of Chabahar and Zahedan, noting that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Iran and India to carry out the project.

“We believe that cooperation in the region should include the presence and partnership of all (regional) countries,” the top Iranian diplomat said at a meeting with Iraq’s Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri in Tehran on Saturday.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with al-Manar late on Friday, Nasrallah said he is “confident” that Hezbollah “would emerge victorious from any new war with Israel.”

A unit at Kimia Company, a subsidiary of Bandar Imam petrochemical complex, caught fire on Friday moing. Local residents say they heard a loud blast.
The fire was extinguished immediately, left no casualties and caused limited financial damages, Mohammad Khademian, head of the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) unit at the petrochemical complex said.
The Friday’s fire marked the fourth incident in the country’s petrochemical factories over the past few weeks.
In late July, a fire broke out at a storage tank in Bistoon Petrochemical Complex in Iran’s weste province of Kermanshah. The plant retued to service in less than 24 hours.
They follow the most serious incident in the history of Iran’s petrochemical industry in July, when an infeo broke out at Bu Ali Sina Petrochemical Refinery Complex in Mahshahr and raged at a giant storage tank for more than two days.
